The study of invasive ant species may one day help pest management professionals (PMPs) successfully manage these unwelcome pests.
Researchers from the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University — Dr. Pierre-André Eyer, doctoral student Alexander Blumenfeld and Dr. Ed Vargo — conducted studies that revealed tawny crazy ant (Nylanderia fulva) genetics have contributed to their ability to spread in the United States.
Their findings, which were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, may help PMPs uncover new control methods.
